here’s how to get immediate help

Last Updated: June 2026

The 8Wise Project CIC is not a crisis service and cannot provide urgent or emergency support

If you are in immediate danger, feel unable to keep yourself safe, or are worried about harming yourself or someone else, please seek help right away.

Your safety matters, and reaching out for immediate support is the right step.

If you are in the United Kingdom

In an Immediate Emergency: If your life is in danger or you have harmed yourself, call 999 immediately or go to your nearest NHS Accident & Emergency (A&E) department.

Urgent Support & Listening Lines:

  • Samaritans: Call 116 123 (Free, confidential, open 24/7)

  • Shout Crisis Text Line: Text SHOUT to 85258 (Free, silent, 24/7 text support)

  • NHS 111: Call 111 (Free, 24/7 medical advice and connection to local crisis teams)

  • Your GP: Contact your local surgery for an urgent appointment.

These services are trained to provide immediate support and crisis care.

If you are outside the UK

Crisis support varies by country. You may be able to access:

  • Local emergency services

  • National crisis helplines

  • Local mental health crisis teams

  • Hospital emergency departments

  • Trusted friends, family members, or community support

  • Your doctor or healthcare provider

If you're outside the UK, there may be national or local crisis services in your area that can offer immediate support. If you're unsure where to turn, contacting your local emergency services is the quickest way to get guidance.

If you are supporting someone else

If you are worried about someone's safety:

  • Stay with them if you can

  • Encourage them to contact emergency services or local crisis support

  • Reach out to someone close to them if appropriate

  • Seek urgent help on their behalf if they are unable to do so

You do not need to manage the situation alone.
