AI Ethics & Use Policy

Our ethical standards and safety framework for integrating AI with the 8Wise® Method

Last Updated: June 2026

This policy outlines the framework for the ethical, safe, and effective use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the 8Wise® Method, as delivered by The 8Wise Project CIC. As AI becomes a standard tool for personal management, we provide this guidance to ensure its use remains supportive of mental wellbeing and professional standards.

Our Core Position

Within The 8Wise Project CIC, AI is positioned as a structured thinking support tool. It is designed to assist with clarity and organisation; it is not a decision-maker or a substitute for professional human care.

  • AI is used to support clarity and reflection

  • AI is used to organise complex thoughts into the 8Wise® framework

  • AI is NOT a replacement for therapy or clinical intervention

  • AI is NOT used to diagnose mental health conditions

Ethical Principles

To protect the integrity of the 8Wise® Method and the wellbeing of our users, all AI interactions must adhere to these standards:

  • Human-Led: All final decisions and interpretations must remain with the human user

  • Structure First: AI should be used within the defined 8Wise® structured prompts to avoid bias

  • Independence: The goal of using AI is to build long-term independent thinking, not dependency on the tool

  • Safety First: AI must never be used as a primary tool in crisis or safeguarding situations. If you are in crisis, please see our Crisis Support page, and if you have a safeguarding concern, please see our Safeguarding Policy

Data & Privacy

In alignment with our Privacy Policy, users are advised to maintain their own data security when using third-party AI platforms.

  • Do not input personally identifiable information (PII) into AI tools

  • Do not share sensitive medical or private health records with AI platforms

  • The 8Wise Project CIC is not responsible for the data retention policies of third-party AI providers

Professional Responsibility

For practitioners and organisations using the 8Wise® Method, AI must be used as a secondary administrative or reflective aid. Professional judgement and clinical boundaries must always take priority over AI-generated suggestions.
